Inter Chief Advises Milan on the Transfer Targets, is a Little Sensitive About the Scudetto

Look at all those TEETH! Apparently Inter’s Massimo Moratti is getting bored, what with everything going so well for his club and all. (And by “everything” I mean “things not involving Adriano and his spectacular immaturity.”) In an effort to spice up his life, he’s branching out and turning himself into a transfer adviser, albeit for people who don’t want it or need it: Inter’s cross-town rivals in red and black.

In an interview yesterday, Moratti was asked about Milan’s alleged pursuit of Barca’s Ronaldinho and, instead of offering the usual “Oh, yes, he’s very skilled yadda yadda,” the Inter President said “Bah.” (Yes, “Bah.” That exactly word was reported in several sources, though it’s unclear whether it was a sheep-style “baaaaah,” or a short noise of disgust. Needless to say, I’m hoping for the former.) Asked to elaborate, Moratti announced that Milan don’t need the player, and advised them to save their money to spend on unnamed others — lovely, generous advice I’m sure Adriano Galliani will be eager to heed. Of course, the implication of Moratti’s further words — that Inter “are now at a stage where we do not need to spend” — is that Milan are not yet at a place where they can afford to be quite so sanguine, and are desperately throwing money anywhere it will stick. So, basically, it’s all a businessman’s way of saying (inster Nelson voice here) “Haha” to his rival.

Moratti was not quite so mature and aloof later in the interview, however, when a Milan fan wandered by and yelled at him about a “cardboard Scudetto.” Hee. For some reason (Gnawing self-doubt, anyone?), Moratti flipped out and apparently got into a rather heated argument with the man. Just so you know, though, he didn’t hit the guy. Let that be a lesson to you, Adriano.
