Inter Introduce One Striker, Work Tirelessly to Dump Another
By: Martha | June 27th, 2007
On the very same day Inter introduced grinny new striker David Suazo (Seriously. Either this guy is the new Cafu, or he got into some Ecstasy right before the press conference. Never. Stopped. Smiling.), the 745th story of the summer about drunk striker Adriano being exchange for someone — anyone — appeared in the Italian papers. Oh, the irony.
This time (*yawn*), Adriano is supposedly being offered to Real Madrid in a partial-swap for midfielder Mahamadou Diarra. According to Italian media reports, the Nerazzurri are willing to package the striker with about £5 million; it’s uncertain if that’ll be enough to get them a player on whom Real spent £17.5 million a year ago.
But — wait. An Adriano rumor that sort of makes sense? Holy crap. Real need a new, young(er) striker to replace Ruud van Nistelrooy when he breaks, while Inter need to strengthen their midfield. This could work! Plus, if Inter could get rid of Adriano at the same time they filled a major need, why, that’d be as good as Christmas! (Of course, the fact that it’s logical probably means no one at either Real or Inter will have heard anything about it, but it’s nice to be able to dream for a day or two.)
