I wish I'd see the match, because the reports sound like he was consistently useful -- the times I had hope for Adriano last season were when he would drop in a bit and face the goal with the ball at his feel, rather than just playing as a target and standing if the ball wasn't played to him perfectly. If he played like that, I'm optimistic.

Ursus, thanks for the Sao Paolo info.

Sao Paulo are probably the most financially sound club in Brazil, if not all of Latin America, but if Inter are really expecting a European-style fee for the player, they will need outside help, most likely from LG or another sponsor. Those deals are not unheard of in Brazil, and I think it there is a decent chance it will happen if he maintains decent form.

As to this match, some consideration has to be given to the quality of the opposition, who have never played in the Brazilian national championship. Even at his most frustrating for Inter, the one thing that Adri could do was shoot.

I wish him luck, both professionally and personally, but really think that he will be better off if he stays at home. He is a more talented version of Edmundo, and in my opinion very unlikely to ever re-create the form that made him the Imperatore on this side of the Atlantic.

2 goals by Adriano in the same match would have been complete science-fiction just a few months ago. The lad's on the right path...

Joe, that's what I'm wondering too. If he can keep it up even a little Sao Paolo will be eager to buy, but I don't have any sense of their finances -- could they pay what Inter would want for him?

He always had a hard shot. That was a nice 1st goal. That looked like Dida out there on the second goal though.

I'm not buying it. He pissed away two prime years in his career that he's never going to get back. Would Inter actually bring him back in if he finds his form or would they sell him off?

The first one impressed the crap out of me. Granted, he's just hanging about and the ball comes to him, but damn he struck it well.
