Week 27: 71.1% There And Loving It
By: chris | March 9th, 2008
Well, not so much if you’re Roberto Stellone. Move that ass, Moris. Figure it’s getting to about that point in the season…..
Top O’ The Table: Status quo. Three fairly comfortable 2-0 victories along with Francesco Totti and David Trezeguet goals and a controversial Inter (non)penalty. It’s like they set this thing on auto-pilot or something.
1. Inter (64)
2. Roma (58)
3. Juventus (51)
The Almighty Fourth Champions League Spot: Kaka and Massimo “Number Two In Gay Men’s Hearts, But Number One In Rino’s” Ambrosini provided some clutch extra-late-game goals against Empoli to grab a cool three points. Bumping that lead for Fiorentina back to a solitary point, who were done in by a Massimo Maccarone free kick which flew just beyond the cat-like reflexes of Seb Frey. Then Massimo took his shirt off to celebrate, got his second yellow and booted from the game. I went into a tiff and ranted on the front page about the yellow card for no taking your shirt off for reasons which I’m still unsure of (maybe I’m just pro-shirtless Massimo Maccarone?).
4. Fiorentina (47)
5. Milan (46)
* - And may it be said, there’s a slight chance both of these teams could make the Champions League if Cobolli Gigli loses his marbles and loans ADP out to Tokyo FC for the remainder of his career, or something, and the team goes into a complete nosedive as a result.
Oh UEFA: One of Milan or Fiorentina is probably going to wind up here. (Sheer brilliance, I know.)
Udinese and Palermo looked to have stopped their slides, though climbing back up is another matter - hence their 1-1 dryhumping Saturday. Sampdoria made up a little ground with a 2-1 victory over Parma minus Talentino - anybody make it to the party in Bari? - and is now just a point behind Udinese.
6. Udinese (40)
7. Sampdoria (39)
8. Palermo (36)
Chances are it’s Udinese who grabs the 7th spot (they’re good and Talentino’s suspension won’t help Sampdoria over the next month), and then we wait for the Coppa Italia to play out to decide if 8 is a lucky number.
Middle of the Pack: Genoa lost to Juve and don’t seem quite good enough to be considered a UEFA Cup contender (just don’t tell that to Pasquale Marino). Lazio managed to down Livorno in a game of massive left-wing political proportions via Goran Pandev and Tom Rocchi (who else?). Napoli couldn’t cement their San Paolo Giant Killing status and went down to Roma 2-0. Siena got that massive, massive result against Fiorentina to clear themselves of the relegation zone clusterfuck for now. And Torino - wait for it - didn’t draw! Beat 10 man Atalanta, actually. So they no longer are tied for the least number of wins in Serie A at four. (Their penchant for sister-kissing is a gift.)
9. Genoa (35)
10. Atalanta (34)
11. Lazio (33)
12. Napoli (33)
13. Torino (31)
14. Siena (31)
You can probably bet against any of these teams facing the ax.

and Chris neglects how roma won on this round, beautiful.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hLnKW8aHZloNo matter how you argue there has been controversy in serie A, this is 4th blatant CHEAT I’ve seen from roma, and i dont even follow roma matches that much. Its a joke to see every other roma fan raid RM,inter, empoli blogs and talk about justice while they mocked palermo fans.
ps. totti diving clip was deleted by no reason last time. I hope this one does not get deleted, as I know it is not against the rule to link one. The mighty admin chris links it.

Yelling in the woods, Mosin.
Chris, in his aptly named “DUMP” on friday, neglected the 100th birthday of a team he doesn’t like. A league team reaching one hundred years in existence might be considered more news than some of the other stuff in his “DUMP”. So, he ignores “news” and posts as many things about Roma as he can on the League News Boards, not in his private *yank*yank* domain.

“and Chris neglects how roma won on this round, beautiful.”
Yup, a shirt tug from Napoli in the box got them a 1-0 game-winning goal in the second minute. Yup.
MAD, you astound me. Really, you do. I can’t even wrap my mind around your thought process.
And for the record, no one gives a shit about Inter’s 100th bday…or Roma’s….or Juve’s….or Siena’s….or Vicenza Calcio’s. Get over it.

“Get over it.”
Chris, you don’t actually get to tell me what to do, ass…

…despite all the times you think you have a right to.
Inter’s 100th is more news than most of the rest of your “DUMP” was.
Oh and Inter was TWO goals up by the 20odd minute (I think it was 24)… before a shot weas even fired the other way. Sooooooooo Inter did not win by a a “controversial Inter (non)penalty”. They won by PENALTY (just like Roma) and a header by Nico. If you don’t like it, I SUGGEST you MIGHT heed your own advise.

And tell me where I said Inter “won by” a controversial penalty? I believe I said “three victories”…”along with”.
I get that you don’t like me. Honestly? I’m cool with that. But at least do so without putting words into my mouth.
(And good to see you capitalizing with effect again.)

Chris, you just don’t understand.
I don’t dislike you. I don’t know you.
But I have had enough of the I LIKE ROMA I LIKE ROMA I LIKE ROMA I LIKE ROMA AND I HATE YOU, NAAAAAAAH
It’s here and it’s on the Inter Boards too and I am sick of it.
I get it. You like Roma. Fine. That’s why there are Roma Boards. Go celebrate… whatever. This is not it, though. There is other stuff interesting football happening, and if you are TRYING to be humorous about something, it can be done without the put downs. I won’t take it from your crap Roma fans invading the Inter Boards, and I won’t take it from you either.
And don’t give me the, “tell me where I said…” crap either. We both know what you were doing, and playing innocent is just dissapointing.
By the way, the Fox Soccer Channel Serie A Weekly for this week opened the show with INTER 100 banner on the screen during the intro. And immediately after the top 10 goals there was a nice little mention of it again, for about 2 minutes before the first break.
So to answer this statement: “And for the record, no one gives a shit about Inter’s 100th bday…or Roma’s….or Juve’s….or Siena’s….or Vicenza Calcio’s”
apparently the entire english speaking soccer world at least has had a mention of it.
p.s. If this was intended as an insult, and I am pretty sure it was, “(And good to see you capitalizing with effect again.)” I think you should work on your material, bacause that was weaker than my aunts tea…

if the roma penalty was cheating how come no-one from napoli has complained about it, and even napoli’s crazy president has said that roma deserved the 3pts?

Moisin, give it a rest. I’m a Napoli fan. I was there. I know how dubious that penalty was. But no matter how much I love Napoli or how much it burns me to say this, Roma won. They already had the 1-0 on their own merits, and no matter how questionable I may think the refereeing was, I also know that my team did not have it together Sunday-which is exactly why the owner, coach, and management are not saying anything about the penalty. It’s hard to complain that the official lost you the game when your team passed to Roma almost as much as they did to each other and can’t shoot on target either.
MAD, if you have a personal issue with Chris, how about you either take it to email or fight it out on the Roma blog?

Thank you, Lisa (and brad). Roma Offside seems to have created some enemies which throw logic out the window. It’s an agenda, little one can do.

Lisa, I’m not complaining how Napoli lost because of the ref, but Chris and a few roma fans crying for justice every three article in the serie A blog. I don’t care what he writes in Roma blog, but writing complaints as long as the bible in Italy blog yet omitting every single advantages roma team got is laughable.
Brad, last year roma lost due to Ronaldo diving outside pk box and earning a fk that ended up as a goal. Does that make every non-complained dive justifiable?
Chris, that was much more dubious than a non-handball which was indeed a handball that turned out to be not a handball. If that is a pk situation after all, then Roma would have had bunch of pks against them. Mexes pulls harder (or better) in pk zones.

“writing complaints as long as the bible in Italy blog”
You’re just making stuff up again. Agenda, that’s all. Show me anywhere here where I’ve written anything of the sort. Guess what? You won’t.

Or just leave. Change brings about varied feelings. Some will like it, some won’t. But don’t sit here and make up stuff to slander me.

My mistake, Mosin. When you talk about the way Roma won this round and link to the highlights of the Napoli game, reasonable people might assume that your point had something to do with that game.
Chris has been doing a pretty good job of staying neutral on the main blog. If he’s remarked on the quality of the refereeing, it’s unsurprising, because I think most anyone you talk to will agree that it could be improved. If you have a problem with him personally, this really isn’t where it belongs.

Don’t tell me you were not the one writing in the roma blog ready to put a 500 word article about ref (and you did so in italy blog with how another juve is back with another calciopoli, main photo that had yellow policetapes. Do you really need a link?)
Refereeing in serie A is horrible. I can agree. Many team has been victims, sure. Don’t portray a single club as the victim of the whole incidents. Specially when theoffside roma fans has been mocking on other teams whenever roma got advantages.
Now, which part did I make up?

Yeah, I do need a link. Or do you mean this one from the homepage? (Which is not, in fact, italy.)

As has been said, if you’ve got a problem with me, deal with it somewhere else. And at least be accurate about it.
Quite frankly man, this ain’t your site. And we’ve got carte blanche, so if you don’t like the content - again - go somewhere else. It’s not your place to bitch. Got it?
(And if you really put on your thinking cap, you’ll see that this post IS unbiased. Fact is, it all happened. There’s no debating it. And the whispers were in fact coming back. Still here, actually.)

Mosin, look what you just wrote: in the roma blog. This is not the Roma blog. This is also not the main Offside blog. You’re not making much sense, and it doesn’t help that your complaint seems to boil down to “I don’t like what goes on at the Roma blog, and it’s terribly unfair that someone from there took over the Italy blog.”
