Inter-Reggina: An Adriano Sighting!
By: Martha | November 19th, 2006
The good news for Inter fans: Your team beat Reggina and is alone at the top of the table, still undefeated for the season.
The good news for Palermo fans (and everyone else): Apart from when Crespo was ripping the ball into the top of the next in the third minute, they looked quite ordinary. Not only were Reggina not overmatched (and denied a deserved tie only by a very, very tight — albeit correct — offside call), but Inter were giving the ball away all over the pitch, often without any pressure at all. Even Viera and Figo, usually sources of stability and great passes, were periodically forgetting which team they were on. After that display, it’ll be hard to find even an Inter fan who will tell you they looked like a team flying towards the title.
We’ll see how Roma’s match against Catania ends up today (I don’t even know if it’s happened yet, actually. It’s on TV here this afternoon, so I’m not looking.)* — anyone who saw Catania very nearly beat Inter knows that they’re not going to roll over, so if Roma can pull off a convincing win, they’ll leave the weekend looking awfully good indeed.
Also:
•Adriano, whose failings I usually secretly enjoy, is now making me sad. He has no confidence and, from the look on his face, hates himself more than even the nastiest fan does right now. Poor giant, useless man.
•I don’t know anything about this Leon fellow apart from the fact that he’s Honduran, but I dig him. He was sort of untidy and unpredictable, but awfully skilled and frequently a serious threat. Is he always that good?
*I just accidentally saw the score. I guess you could call that convincing. Jesus.
