The starting lineup was a joke. Crespo would have never blew those chances that Cruz did.

Mike, that picture is awesome, probably the <a href="http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/561/pazzanmutuik1.png" rel="nofollow">second-best</a> image of man-love of this round.

Paolo, that's good, well done. Perhaps not as cutting as Chris' mean "like Stallone in A Chorus Line" analogy, but good nevertheless. And I agree completely -- I'm Figo's most dangerously obsessed fan, and even I know if he's not out wide he has no business being on the field. How can Mancini not notice?

Chris, I apologize -- I didn't want to steal your good line for my own use, you know. Next time you email me something so perfectly cruel, though, I promise I'll post it. Even if it is about Figo. Again.

Seriously, I'm upset that you didn't put in my analogy to Figo as a CAM is like casting Sylvester Stallone in A Chorus Line. It's a perfect fit and you know it.

**insert comment on the uselessness of playing Figo as an attacking midfielder here**: Completely useless, like having an ashtray on a motorcycle.

I hated that starting line up today. Figo should be playing on the flank where he creates space wide and can send balls in to the finishers. I guess my prediction of having Adri getting more chances than Cruz to start the season was completely WRONG and Cruz missed some easy chances that the other 4 would/could have finished. He should not be starting over Crespo or Suazo... EVER. I was really hoping it would be Ibra and Crespo up front. Until Materazzi comes back Chivu needs to be playing LCB with Maicon and Cordoba at his right and Zanetti (or Maxwell) on his left. Where the hell was Cambiasso? What the hell is Mancini thinking? Why can't Inter beat this team? Why does Inter like shooting themsleves in the foot? I guess one point isn't the worst thing but they have to finish games like that earlier. That 92nd min goal reallyyyyyy pissed me off. Looking forward to week two.

nice, good form and placement, a clean strike. Maybe once his ban is over he should consider becoming a player/manager, so that he can use that foot to score some goals.

I'm watching Palermo-Roma, a fantastic game and IMO the best match of this round. Despite the scoreline, Palermo is really fkn good.

Ps: saw this hilarious pic of Trezzie and Vinny, who I think are becoming more than just friends

Mike, here's a <a href="http://www.repubblica.it/2006/05/gallerie/calcio/clacio-baldini/esterne261646522608165407_big.jpg" rel="nofollow">screencap</a> of it, that's all of seen so far. Serie A rules.

(And about those kits -- it took me about 30 minutes to get it into my head that it was Udine, not Chievo.)

Udine looked strong today, especially Asamoah whose pace and shot well complemented FabQuags and Flores. I also like their Star Trek yellow kits, which I thought would piss me off at first but they really grew on me.

I know Ceasar had a huge howler with his handball but I couldn't help but feel bad for him, as I could tell he was completely ashamed. Didn't have a similar f-up in the Roma loss, where his clearance throw hit his own leg or something?

And did you guys hear about the Catania coach kicking the Parma coach? I'm trying to find video clips.

Martha I wouldn't get too worried yet. Before their game against Roma in the 6th matchday, Inter don't have a particularly difficult schedule. They have Empoli, Catania, Livorno, and then Samp. If they can't get some points before that, then it is time to worry.

However, I think it is fair to say that a good start is key for Inter. The pressure on them will build and build quickly if they can't stay near the top of the table in the early part of the season. It will be interesting to see how they cope with defending the scudetto.
