Will the Oddo Drama Never End?
By: Martha | January 22nd, 2007
Right now, the man looks less likely than ever to go to Milan. Lazio president Claudio Lotito is still on full tilt after decided last week that someone was disrespecting him, and he’s moved on to calling Silvio Berlusconi, who at some point seems to have told the press the deal would be sorted out via a Monday morning phone call between presidents, a liar: “Berlusconi has telephoned to me? False.” Take that, Mr. Sketchy Former Prime Minister.
Additionally, the two clubs are stuck about €3 million apart regarding the transfer fee (Lazio want €9 million; Milan won’t pay more than €6 million) and, what with Lotito’s recent, manic assertions that Oddo is not actually for sale, it seems unlikely right now that Lazio will budge. Of course, if Oddo’s not being allowed to play (since, as everyone knows, “if a player does not align itself to the directives of the society, he can also remain outside”), there’s not much point in Lazio keeping him, is there? Spite is nice and all, but it doesn’t bring new players into the team like €6 million can. Plus, apart from nearly breaking Gilardino’s leg, Valon Behrami’s performance at right back yesterday surely went a long way towards comforting the people at Lazio who were resisting a deal because they were unsure who could take Oddo’s place.
Really, as good as Oddo has been for them, given the growing ugliness of his relationship with the club, Lazio would be nuts not to sell him now. But, since Lotito IS a crazy person, God only knows what’s going to happen.

replace oddo with beautiful princess with “long, flowing hair”, lazio with “evil wizard” and milan with “dashing prince”.
you think this will drag on as long as the figo saga?

Shelah, I was wondering the same thing myself — I think I speak for everyone when I say “For the love of God, no!”
