Milan Licking Their Chops at Barca “Bust-Up”

By: Martha | January 5th, 2007

He's a seal.Ronaldinho showed up late at Barcelona’s post-Christmas training camp, a screwup that reports in Italy are portraying as the event that will finally bring Ronnie to Milan. Because, you know, when one of the most magical players in the world misses two training sessions, shows up late for a third (His plane was delayed, apparently. Really, really, really delayed.), and is punished by being forced to train away from the team, that means he’s up for sale. Riiiiight.

Putting the utter absurdity of that assumption aside for a second, think about a Milan midfield featuring both Kaka and Ronaldinho in good form. How magical would that be?! Man. I just got chills. Continuing in the vein of fantasy, though he’s currently contracted through 2010, Ronaldinho hasn’t extended the contract yet, something that was expected to have happened by now. Plus, the maniacs at the San Siro are reportedly ready to offer £78 million to Barca for his services, an amount that, if it turns out to be true, is enough to give any club pause. Granted, the chances of this deal happening (over the summer, not now) are about 1%, but still. It’s a hell of a lot of fun to think about.

Even though I have chosen ROMA as my squad, if something like this really happened I’d have to re-think my allegiances. That little chipmunk-looking Ronaldinho at teh San Siro would be impressive top say the least.

What’s with the Italian press and the Barca frontline? If you believe them, the entire R-E-M (Ronaldinho-Eto’o-Messi) forward line so beloved by the fans will be playing in Italy next year. Guys, if you like them so much, turn on the TV and watch Barca.

If the two Milan teams do pony up the buy-out clause amounts, Milan would be short 300 million euros, and Inter 150 million. Not even Moratti and Silvio have that kind of money.
