Mmm … Striker Drama

By: Martha | June 28th, 2007

Crispy joyFirst, let’s visit pay a visit to Milan. On the red and black side of town, by not saying “Ew, Cassano? No way, he smells!”, Adriano Galliani has given the rumor mill grist for weeks of “OMG CASSANO TO MILAN!” speculation. This despite the fact that all Galliani did was say he didn’t hate the kid — or, more accurately, “You all know that I don’t dislike him.” (Ooooooh!) The only problem, though, is that during the winter transfer window at least one person who matters at Milan disliked the striker enough to veto a move for him. So, unless that person’s died, the same problem still exists, and a move remains highly unlikely.

Let’s move, now, to the other side of town where highly observant, short-haired striker Hernan Crespo has broken a bit of shocking news: The team have too many strikers. [Insert stunned gasp here.] Really, this is so obvious it wouldn’t be worth reporting were it not for the magnificent work of Google Translate on the article. To wit: It describes Crespo as “alive, little annoyed,” and “the forward nozzle the alarm.” And that’s only the first paragraph! In terms of substance, there’s not much, apart from Crespo’s willingness to state the obvious, namely that someone is going to have to go. Or, as Google puts it, “‘We are many in attack. Someone will have also to go via.’ … The Seleccion has many gunboats.” The eagle flies at midnight, Hernan.

Our final stop on today’s (extremely short) trip around Italy is the lovely northern town of Udine, where Fabio Quagliarella is telling everyone he’s staying at the club. Sure you are, Fabs. This is why you’re telling the press in England how much you want to play for Man U, and giving eager tongue baths to the Roma press. Anyone want to place any best on when the “I HEART JUVE!” press conference will take place?

well kids what did we learn today?
    1. Crespo is just a genius and his IQ is probably higher than anyone elses after the profound discovery he has just made
    &
    2. Quagliarella is a total liar
i can only imagine the lessons we will learn tomorrow!!:D:D

Well I must say the image of Fabio Quagliarella giving eager tongue baths to the Roma press is a most pleasing one…

Galliano likes Cassano?! Help! Because Cassano and Gilardino and Inzaghi would be altogether too much Italian male temperament for my taste.

Part of Crespo’s complaint was that he was under the impression Inter were also going to sign Tevez. But now Moratti has denied further interest in the player (perhaps realizing Inter already have a dozen forwards), while Tevez’s shady agent is trying to claim that they turned down Inter because of some (fictional?) decision deadline.

Anyway, aside from sorting out Recoba’s forlorn departure and ensuring Adriano sticks to that salad diet, Inter’s dealings in attack might be finished. But then this is Inter…

I’m glad to hear that good ol’ Hernan is alive, as he’s starting for Argentina in approximately 20 minutes.

Hernan thinks that b/c he just got a contract extension, he won’t be the one to go, so the others have to.

And yes, Inter need to strengthen their defense also…
