Montella Going British?
By: Martha | December 1st, 2006
Have you heard the one about Vincenzo Montella leaving Roma in search of playing time? Well, it looks like it just might be true — it’s gradually surfacing in semi-reliable (read: not Tribal Football) places, and there haven’t been any fevered denials from anyone so far. Most of the stories have him in the sights of a trio of British clubs: Blackburn, Fulham and Newcastle. Sigh. You know I love Newcastle but I implore you, Vincenzo, don’t do it! First of all, you’ll inevitably get a hamstring injury the moment you arrive at the training ground. Second, even if you’re not playing much in Rome, the switch from their beautiful, flowing style to the chaos in Newcastle might be such a shock to your sensibilities that you find it difficult to function at all. (Well, either that, or you’ll just stand there laughing. Either way — not good.)
A better option might be Milan who, it appears, are in the picture for any all strikers who are even the slightest bit unsettled. It’s being reported this morning that Milan want him on loan — I smell an Aeroplanino revival!
