Midweek Odds and Ends Ahead of the Azzurri B-Squad Match

Figoooooo!•Add Roma to the list of teams Amauri’s agent is telling everyone want his client. While all of this could be real, it could also be an artless attempt by an agent to raise the pricetag on his client’s head.

•If we can believe Germany magazine Kicker, Barcelona may be preparing to dump Gianluca Zambrotta in favor of Bayern Munich’s Philip Lahm. Zambrotta is oldish (30) and has been having injury problems lately (he’s out right now), two things that make him perfect for a return to Italy; the primary interested clubs (allegedly) are Milan and his old homies at Juventus, two teams that do seem to be stockpiling the aged.

•I know there are a few other things going on today, but I’m slightly fixated on the fact that Luis Figo is talking about being interested in going to MLS to end his career. On one hand, this is wildly exciting because he had offers from RBNY before and, if they can either get rid of useless Claudio Reyna or at least reduce his salary to a reasonable level, New York would have a designated player spot to spend on Figo, thus bringing him to my very own backyard. On the other hand, though, I mean, MLS. I’m embarrassed at the though of him even watching the Red Bulls play, let alone being on the pitch with them.

•Not only are Napoli supporters banned from their away match at Roma this weekend, but because so many (about 1000, according to reports) managed to defy their Week 7 ban and get hold of tickets for the Inter match, no single tickets at all will be sold to this game, with attendance limited to Roma season ticket holders. That’s going to piss off some people in Rome, huh?

•Georgia are leading Scotland 2-0 in Tbilisi, with less than a half hour left in the game. Mwwahahaha.

The Zambrotta rumour was started by AS, those hilarious professional Barca-baiters. It goes on about how unhappy Barca are with Zambro, which is insane and untrue.

Besides, Lahm and Messi would be the shortest right-wing combination in the history of football. Just no.
