News and Rumors to Wet Your Proverbial Whistle for the Weekend
By: Martha | December 2nd, 2006
•Just so you know, Crespo has nothing but love for Chelsea, and has never said anything mean about the club. Ever. Well, at least he’s not claiming to have been taken out of context — that’s something.
•Several different outlets reported last week that Juventus are eying up the world’s nerdist-looking striker, Miroslav Klose, who apparently hasn’t heard that they’re in the second division. Also (supposedly) in the mix for Klose — who actually wouldn’t leave Germany until Summer, so Juve are likely to be back in their rightful place by then — is a multinational assortment of clubs, including Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and the ever-present Chelsea.
•You think only teams don’t care about the Coppa Italia? Well, fans can’t be bothered, either: Only 695 profoundly bored (or devoted) souls showed up last week to watch Chievo and Reggina draw 1-1. Yikes.
•I know you’ll find this hard to believe because of the man’s hardness and resilience (*cough*), but Adriano is out of Inter’s game against Siena this weekend. I think he’s tired, or someting. Or misses the beach. Either that, or his back hurts. So, all that stuff I said about him suddenly coming to life? Never mind.
•Despite the fact that coach Giampiero Gasperini lost his nerve at the last minute and decided not to play with two keepers, Genoa (who had a penalty saved — doh!) nevertheless managed to draw with Juventus yesterday. The single point was enough to leave Juve alongside Genoa atop Serie B, and it’s surely only a matter of time before we see Pavel Neved’s ancient, flowing locks back in Serie A.
