Newsie Bits: A Weekend of Conflict Resolution
By: Martha | January 13th, 2007
•Though I somehow missed that it was happening in the first place, the legal battle between Paolo Di Canio and Lazio is at an end. Apparently when he left the club in a huff this summer, wor Paolo felt he was owed £25,000 in back wages. The club, however, said they weren’t giving him a cent because the player owed the club for kits he’d given away and a backlog of unpaid fines. The whole thing ended up in court and, yesterday, the judge sided with Lazio and told Di Canio to quit his bitching.
•While club president Massimo Moratti denies any such discussions have taken place, La Gazzetta dello Sport claims several Inter players have gone to club officials and begged them not to sign Antonio Cassano. The issue is less his ability than his attitude — the club has a pile of striker rotating through the first team, and all of them have the maturity to sit on the bench periodically without complaining. Cassano? Not so much. Yes, Antonio, that’s right: You’re officially such a childish pain in the ass that no one wants you around. How’s that persecution complex working out for you?
•That huge, get-me-out-of-here row between Mancini and Francesco Totti? Never mind, everything’s fine. Thanks for stopping by.
