Nike unveils new Serie A match ball
By: Francesco | June 30th, 2009
This is the new Nike ball that you will see being kicked around next season. It’s called the Nike Total 90 Ascente and will also be used in the EPL and in Spain’s La Liga. The ball will be used in all Serie A, Serie B, and Coppa Italia matches as well as the SuperCoppa this August and in all Primavera matches. Serie A is relatively new to the whole one match ball for the whole league system, as only last year they signed a league-wide deal with Nike for the first time. Before that each team was responsible to provide their own match balls for home games. More pictures after the jump.

the fact that this ball is for the whole of serie a means nike is sponsoring the FIGC now, rather than each club getting his ball from a sponsor and paying taxes to the FIGC, this means less money earned for Serie A, and what happened to the Italian Premier League rule, weren’t they supposed to break apart with Serie B?

Serie A and Serie B will do their own thing but they are still a part of Lega Calcio so the ball sponsorship covers all divisions of Lega Calcio.

That ball looks like the robot from “Flight of the Navigator.”
