No Moss on Inter, Or: Nerazzurri Already Eying Figo Replacement
By: Martha | December 28th, 2006
Having finally offloaded their dead Portuguese weight that insisted on making goals every time he was allowed on the pitch (ahem), Inter are already looking for a replacement, playmaking midfielder, and they’ve got their eye on a world champion. According to this morning’s La Gazetta dello Sport, the Milan club are hot on the trail of Mauro Camoranesi, a player they very nearly snapped up last summer, before Juve told Massimo Moratti to stop fondling their property. Though the player would be unlikely to make a move until June, he’s reported more than willing to leave Turin before his contract is up, and may be brought to Inter as a part of a multi-player deal involving Gianluigi Buffon — though that rumor has been going around for so long, it’s hard to get too excited about the possibility at this point — with Walter Samuel (who can’t possibly be as old as he looks) going the other way.
While such a deal would certainly put a dent in Juve’s big plans for the 2007-2008 season, the money it would bring in would be awfully tasty — plus, the cash would be handy when the club starts poaching talented youngsters from smaller clubs (yes, like Andrea Barzagli). Oh the Inter side, of course, there’s nothing not to love: What’s a few million Euros between friends, when it means the addition of a multipurpose midfielder and a world-class keeper?
