Oddo to Milan, Or: Free at Last, Free at Last — Thank God Almighty, We Are Free at Last!

Oddo Oddo OddoToday, friends, our long national nightmare is at an end: Lazio and Milan have agreed a transfer fee, and Massimo Oddo is finally leaving Rome. Thank the lord that’s over — as shelah mentioned in the comments, the Oddo saga got so drawn out it was starting to look like Figo to Saudia Arabia 2.0.

According to the Italian press, just hours after ranting about the distance between the clubs regarding the player’s fee, Lazio president Claudio Lotito sat down with his Milan counterpart and hammered out a deal. Under the terms agreed to last night, Milan will pay about €8 million (an increase of €2 million over their previous best offer) for Oddo, and have also thrown in the rights to Pasquale Foggia, a U-21 nation team player who has been on loan with Lazio. Done and dusted, then.(I guess Mrs. Oddo’s ovaries weren’t asked their opinion.)

Though the Milan website cautions the deal will only be done once they secure Oddo’s signature, one assumes he will be with the team shortly, and will make his first appearance this weekend against Parma, if not before — Milan play Roma on Thursday in the Coppa semis.
