Odds and Ends Because There’s Really Not Much Going On That’s Not Champions League

•Gigi Cagni is shocked he was sacked. Aw. Poor guy — he did take Empoli to their first-ever European place, so I suppose it wasn’t unreasonable to expect a certain degree of loyalty.

•Brazil’s Olympic team has been named, and a certain teenage Rossoneri is the only foreign-based players on the list. The team play on December 9, a match to which Pato is free to go, since all he can do at Milan is train for another month or so.

•You can tell it’s a slow news day, because La Gazzetta have published a list of the 10 players in Serie A who have played the most minutes through week 13. The top two are Andrea Pirlo and Javier Zanetti , and four of the top five come from a Milan club, despite the fact that both have played only twelve matches so far. I’m not sure this is a good thing, though: Pirlo, Zanetti, Kaka and Esteban Cambiasso are likely to start leaking oil sooner or later — then where will their teams be? (The outsider in the top five is Andrea Barzagli, who started his personal leaking last Sunday night.)

•Remember that Totti-blackmail story from back in December? Well, nevermind — the extortion case against the photographer in question has been dismissed because “there was no threat or profit.” Oh well.

•The Zambro-to-Milan story is back, because his wife’s boobs are “homesick and desperate to return to Italy.” Why it has to be Milan I don’t know, but Tuttosport (Warning! Warning!) is quoting the man himself as saying they’re the only club for which he could possibly play, were he to make the rumored return.

•Also back in the news is the Ricardo Carvalho for Walter Samuel swap deal. Well, either that or Carvalho is going to Liverpool.

  Beautiful Game!!

  I hope Zico has the decency to send proper b-day wishes to Mancio now, or maybe he will do what he should have done to begin with… Keep his mouth shut. Inter had a game plan and executed well! Gotta love the intentional yellows by Ibra and Samuel. Now that the the PSV game will be only a formality they can rest. I would expect Materazzi to start that one! FORZA INTER!

  Martha, yes I did. It wasn’t the greatest display by either team in the 1st half, but Inter were the better of the two. Great result though when it was said and done!! And HOLLA for for Jimenez! I was happy he got time and netted one!

  Paolo, I’ve been whining about Jimenez since the preseason, especially with the Midfield Injury Crisis. Why buy him, if Burdisso and Chivu are preferred to him at his own position?! *covers eyes* Mancini was full of praise for him after the match, as I’m sure you saw — we’ll see if that results in any more time.
