Oh Man Not THIS Guy Again… Welcome!
By: Julian | March 4th, 2011Well that didnāt take long, did it? Shortly after you guys thought you had seen the last of me, I rise once again, like Marcello Lippi re-taking over gli azzurri in 2008. But hopefully, you know, Iāll be actually successful.
My name is Julian and Iāll be taking over blogging duties from Francesco. Iām sure everyone has quite a few questions about the switch, so Iāll try to answer as many as I can here. Iām also sure that Jorid is thrilled with this appointment given the comment he left in Francescoās farewell post.
Post any other questions you may have in the comments section and Iāll be sure to respond.
So who are you? As I said, Iām Julian and I take over this blog with Francescoās blessing. Cesc is a good pal of mine, and we both write articles together over at Sportshaze.com covering Serie A. I have extensive experience blogging. I was the blogger of the Italy WorldCupBlog for two and a half years, starting in July of 2008 and going until yesterday. I also do a weekly article at SerieAWeekly as well. Needless to say, I have much experience in writing about football and calcio especially, and Iām very excited to be on board.
What kind of posts do you like to write? In general, I like to treat the blog posts as if they were articles. I rarely use the first person, except in a post like this, and Iād like to think that my articles are both informative and interesting to read. I will be relying heavily upon feedback from you guys to ensure that this standard is maintained so please leave positive and constructive criticism on each post as you see fit.
One of my favorite fun posts to do is āCrappy Lookalikesā, a series I started on the Italy WCB. Iāll need your help for these as itās tough to find lookalikes around the peninsula, and Iāve already gotten a fair few.
Iāll absolutely do my best to keep the board at the level that Francesco had it. My goal is to have a post up per day, though not all may be as substantial as others- Iāll vary it with polls, videos, etc. I do hope to have the top 5 calcio news stories of the day up on each post, as well.
Will you bring us free donuts? No.
What will stay the same from Francescoās days? One thing I wanted to stress is that Calcio Thoughts will absolutely remain. Cesc was kind enough to give me the email so you can send them in the same way they were sent in before- calciothoughts[at]gmail[.]com.
How can we contact you with feedback? The comments section below is a great place, as I constantly monitor it. One other way you can reach me is via twitter. My personal twitter is @JulianWCB (though the name now needs changing). Iāll be more than happy to follow you back and chat about calcio or anything else. One word of advice- that being my twitter account, my club bias does tend to shine through rather strongly. On this blog I can guarantee that no club bias will exist, and I will do my best to cover all of Serie A and the lower leagues equally. On Twitter, I can make no such promise since it is my personal account.
Any other questions or thoughts? Letās hear them! Iām very excited to be on board and I canāt wait to get this started, which I should with a proper post up tomorrow.
