Pippo Inzaghi gets better with age

By: Francesco | April 21st, 2009

What can you say about Pippo Inzaghi? At the age of 35, the goal poaching extraordinaire is still giving 110% on the football pitch and is still scoring goals. His latest feat came this past weekend, where Inzaghi scored a hat-trick to contribute to Milan’s 5-1 drubbing of Torino. That was actually his second hat-trick of the season, as he put 3 past Atalanta a couple of weeks ago. He now has 11 goals in 20 appearances in Serie A this season, not bad at all for a player that was considered to be finished at the beginning of the year. The fact of the matter is, SuperPippo will always score goals. He just has this innate sense of positioning where he always knows exactly where to be to put the ball into the back of the net. He has the mindset of a young player and when he scores a goal he celebrates like he has just scored the winning goal in a World Cup final. What did Pippo have to say about his latest feat?

I am almost 36 years old, but at the San Siro I feel like I am 10 years younger. This is thanks to the rossoneri fans, a fantastic stadium, and the Milan jersey: I put it on and I get younger“. Pippo continued, “One of my best qualities is that I adjust my positioning based on whoever has the ball: if Pirlo is on the ball I make a certain movement, if Kakà has it I make a different movement because each one of them has their own unique style of play. And if Beckham is on the ball I know an inch perfect cross will arrive in the middle of the box, so I prepare my head.

SuperPippo then talked about getting angry about substitutions: “Ancelotti gave me a great ovation, but it’s a little bit like children. If you bring them to an amusement park and after an hour of great fun the father says ‘Ok kids, we have to go home now’, they get upset. They get mad because they want to keep having fun, but you have to respect the decision because he is your father. San Siro is my amusement park“.

I hope Inzaghi continues to enjoy himself, as he really he is a great player to watch. As much as people say that he dives all the time, he’s offside the whole game, he has no technique, they don’t realize that Inzaghi is a world class player, and I hope he doesn’t retire soon (with his personality it doesn’t look like happening), as he’s always been one of my favorite players to watch.

FORZA SUPERPIPPO!

He simply defies age. One of my favorite strikers just because he proves that older players can still be top class.

Has no talent, he just scores bullshit goals. 300+ bullshit goals.

Keep on scoring Pippo….he never gets tired of scoring them, and we never get tired of watching his reactions as he scores a tap-in. Legend of the game, no doubt.

Poll of the day…..Trezeguet or Inzaghi, who’s the better poacher? Both have been the poacher extraordinaires of Serie A over the last decade, prone to pull up with a bullshit goal at a moments notice. Spicier given that Trez replaced Inzaghi at Juve, too!

This is the QUOTE OF THE YEAR. Really. Hilarious.

And Alessio, I would have to say that Pippo is the better poacher based on European exploits and achievements. And the fact that at 36 he is still banging them in, and Trezeguet atm seems to be fizzing out… Of course it would be a foolish mistake to underestimate trezeguet either. Its right around the time he comes out and proves his critics wrong.

    Poacher extraordinair.
Ability to sniff BS goals is indeed some serious talent too.

Fuck Inzaghi. Even if he knows he’s 10 feet offside, he still acts like all the injustice in the world is thrown on his shoulders.

May not be such a crazy idea after all. He’d be 10x more decisive than Toni and Gila put together.

Why hasn’t Pippo made the Top 10 Serie A Goal Scorers of all time, like Totti did recently with his 174th and 175th goal vs. Lecce?

    I don’t get it…?

NVM, 149 goals in Serie A … thought he had a lot more than that for some reason.
