Quagliarella Scores Seven! (Against a Bunch of Amateurs)

By: Martha | August 6th, 2007

Take that, bitches.Fabio Quagliarella and his Udinese teammates beat the hell out of a helpless amateur side called Arta Cedarchis yesterday, to the tune of a 19-0 shutout. Apparently Udine really has something against this particular local team, because goal machine Quagliarella played all 90 minutes, scoring three of his goals in the last 11 minutes of the match (you know, because a 16-0 will really wouldn’t have been enough). In addition to Quagliarella’s big seven, the northern club also got five from Michele Paolucci and a measly three from both Simone Pepe and Federico Gerardi.

Wow. Do you think that made them feel good about themselves? It’s a bit like when Australia won that World Cup qualifier 1,546-0 — at some point, you have to wonder how much you’re getting out of it. For what it’s worth, this seems to have been something of a second team (in terms of fitness, at lesat) for Udine, because only players who weren’t involved in Saturday’s win over Coventry took part in the thrashing. But still — isn’t there a point at which the coach, like, tells the team they have to pass 20 times before shooting, or something? No, wait. I guess that’s only middle school. Anyway, sportsmanship is for suckers.
If nothing else, at least Udinese know their new 4-3-3 system is working. The boys from Arta Cedarchis, meanwhile, are all on suicide watch.

Nothing yet, Sam. I’m sure it wasn’t on TV, so one of the 500 or so fans are going to have to have filmed it for us — I’ll keep an eye out and add a link if anything turns up.

Peh… Australia won only 31-0 against American Samoa and 22-0 tzo days earlier against Tonga…

Hell, Australia barely got 68 goals in 4 games! That’s two more than Real got in 38 games last season…

Still, nice work from Quag, 7 isn’t anything to jeer at!
