Quaresma fastest driver in Serie A and he doesn’t care
By: Francesco | May 27th, 2010
We know Ricardo Quaresma is one of the biggest wastes of money in all of Italian calcio history. But apparently he’s good at something, and it’s driving fast. Every year satirical news program Striscia La Notizia holds the “Campionato Italiano Velocita’ Calciatori” (The Italian Championship of Footballer’s Speed). In this Championship, every week they visit a different team’s training ground with a radar gun and check the speeds of footballer’s exiting the parking lot in their cars. To watch this season’s videos, go here. It’s very entertaining, because most of the players go way over the speed limit and some even go 60 kilometers over the speed limit, which would suspend their driver’s license if caught. This season, the top trio were Inter players. Sulley Muntari was third fastest, Mario Balotelli second fastest, and in first place was Ricardo Quaresma. Quaresma went 91 kilometers over the speed limit exiting Appiano Gentile. So the two comedians, Valerio Staffelli and Cristiano Militello, went to give him his prize, a checkered “tapiro d’oro“. Quaresma, driving his Audi R8, wasn’t in a playful mood and wouldn’t open the window when Staffelli and Militello pulled up next to him. They kept trying and trying, and eventually got him to comment (by lightly hitting his car). Eventually, Quaresma accepted the award, but threw it to the ground. I guess he can’t be a repeat winner, because he might not be in Serie A next season. The video is pretty funny, even if you don’t understand Italian. Video after the jump.
