Rumors and News for Monday: Everyone Loves Rossi and Andriano
By: Martha | January 22nd, 2007
•Giuseppe Rossi’s agent has seized the occasion of his spectacular goal to shout far and wide about how many of the big clubs want to buy him. Though he claims Man U already turned down a £4.2 million offer for the lad, he wants all possible bidders to know that young Rossi is “more suited to the Italian game.” So, please: Make an orderly line to the left, and we’ll let you know when we’re willing to talk. In the meantime, place your cash and watches in the bucket. Thank you.
•It’s amazing what a few goals and a shot of confidence can do: Adriano is back in the Brazil squad for a friendly against Portugal next month.
•Maltese fans of AC Milan who had the nerve to support their team against a local side while Milan trained in Malta during the break are being accused by the media of being unpatriotic. Sigh. There, too? I bet if you check, you’ll find that loving Paolo Maldini is almost the same as wanting the terrorists to win.
•Despite coach Luciano Spalletti’s quite reasonable rage at Francesco Totti’s sending off and subsequent behavior yesterday (does anyone else think the strength coach was diving?), Fabio Galante, the man whose not-that-bad elbow set Totti off is falling all over himself to apologize. The reason for the shameless ass-kissing becomes clear once you read that not only does he love every single man on the Roma team, but also wishes to play there some day. If he’s very good, and eats all his vegetables.
•Though it’s hard believe if you saw the tackle, nothing’s broken in Alberto Gilardino’s leg. He’ll be examined again tomorrow to see if anything is torn, rupture, or otherwise demolished.
