Rumors to Read As You Twitch Nervously and Chew Your Fingernails to the Nub

•Having already landed Luca Toni (or not), Bayern Munich are reportedly also eying Palermo and Azzurri defender Andrea Barzagli. Barzagli is younger and arguably more instrumental to Palermo’s future than Toni is to the Viola, so he’d probably have to be pried from Zampa’s cold, dead hands. Of course, all of that can change if Baryern are willing to break the bank for the boy. [Thanks to Lisa for the tip on this one.]
•It’s been rumored ever since Figo finalized his Giant-Piles-of-Money Saudi deal that Deco is Inter’s first choice to replace him, and word on the very shady Tribal Football street is that Deco’s agent is in Milan today to meet with Nerazzurri reps about the possibility of his client joining the club over the summer. No further word on that €6 million offer Inter have supposedly already made for the player.
•In statements cleverly timed to coincide with his client’s pissing-off of Udine fans with his petulant behavior and sending off last weekend, Antonio Di Natale’s agent is suddenly talking to the press (and the Udine president) about Roma’s alleged interest in the striker. Some reports indicate the club is willing to sell, but suggest their €5 million price tag is much higher than what Roma — never exactly rolling in cash — will pay.
•Because he’s not crazy, Christian Wilhelmsson would prefer to stay with Roma at the end of his loan period than to return to the club which owns him, the recently relegated Nantes. It’s been suggested, however, that Roma won’t spend the money to keep him; if Nantes are wiling to sell, hopefully someone else (preferably someone wearing pink or purple) will step in to keep Wilhelmsson in Serie A, because the guy is good, and fits into the league well. In my humble opinion.
