Serie A and Coppa Italia 2009/2010 dates announced

Yesterday the Lega Calcio announced the dates for the 2009/2010 Serie A season. Serie A begins the weekend of August 23rd and will end on May 16th to give the national team enough time to prepare for the World Cup. There will be 4 midweek rounds (September 23, October 28, January 6, and March 24). There will be 5 breaks (September 6, October 11, and November 15 for World Cup qualifying as well as 2 weeks off in December and January for the winter break). Coppa Italia dates were also announced: First round begins on August 2nd; second round August 9th; third round August 15th; fourth round November 26 or December 1; Round of 16 December 10 and 15 and January 13; quarter-finals January 20 and 27; semi-finals February 3rd and 10th; and final held at the Stadio Olimpico on Wednesday, May 5.
