Serie A Goals of the Week: Giornata 2
By: Francesco | September 1st, 2009
It was a weekend of some nice goals. First, let’s just say that Fabio Quagliarella ALMOST scored the goal of the season (he did however score 2 goals on the night). You can watch that video here. Diego scored his first goals in Serie A, Julio Cruz scored his first goals for Lazio, Alberto Paloschi continues to look more and more like the new Pippo Inzaghi, Giampaolo Pazzini continues to score, and Antonio Cassano worked some magic again. Goals of the week after the jump.
First, one kind youtube user made his own Top 5 Goals of the 2nd Giornata video and it includes 5 of the goals I wanted to show, so that makes my work a little easier. I’d also like to add that last year every single goal scored on the weekend would be on youtube Monday morning, but this season so far individual goal videos have been extremely hard to find. Maybe later in the season it’ll be like last season, but please bear with the inconvenience for the time being.
Added to that, I’d like to include:
Antonio Cassano vs. Udinese - Classic Cassano goal, dribble on the outside of the area and precise finish in the lower corner.
Diego vs. Roma - The Brazilian fantasista scores his second of the match. A Brazilian-like assist from Iaquinta, and then Diego does the rest.

Good post Francesco. That Hamsik goal was pretty cool.I think Felipe Melo’s celebration, although not a goal at all, deserves an honorable mention. It was fucking epic haha.

why isn’t there a better vid of the de rossi goal … i.e. more angles

Because it was a bullshit goal and no one, not even the TV crews, were expecting it.
