Serie A Goals of the Week: Giornata 37

By: Francesco | May 27th, 2009

I’m sorry there was no Weekend Round-up this week, I was away for Memorial Day Weekend and then yesterday my internet was down, so I figured by now it’s Wednesday and everyone knows the results of this past weekend. So I’ll just post the goals of the week for everyone to admire. Goals after the jump.

Vito Falconieri vs. Napoli – The Catania youngster scores his first goal ever in Serie A with this awesome dipping volley from outside the area. Not bad for your first goal in Serie A.

Francesco Totti vs. Milan – Totti with a trademark free kick. Pizarro touches it and Totti hits a perfect low strike into the far corner. 177th goal in Serie A.

Jeremy Menez vs. Milan – Nice counter-attack by the Giallorossi. Pizarro to Riise who touches it for Menez who uses his speed to skip past Favalli and slot it past Dida.

Jon Arne Riise vs. Milan – These are the types of goals Roma fans have wanted to see Riise score all year. The goals where he uses his rocket of a left foot to smash the ball into the net. Any harder and this ball would’ve put a hole into the net.

Ruben Olivera vs. Torino – Olivera scored a free kick like this last week and he does it again this week vs. Toro. Another great effort, right over the wall and into the net.

Rolando Bianchi vs. Genoa – Bianchi has been on fire in recent weeks and this week was no different. Turns his defender and beats Rubinho with a nice chip volley.

Takayuki Morimoto vs. Napoli – Perfect cross from the left wing and good header by the Japanese striker.

Claudio Marchisio vs. Siena – Perfect assist by Del Piero to thread through the defense to Marchisio who chips it over an onrushing Curci.

Mariano Bogliacino vs. Catania – The Uruguayan midfielder scores an awesome goal with a perfect left foot strike from 25 yards out. Unstoppable.

Andrea Cossu vs. Inter – The hometown hero draws Cagliari level with a nice goal. He receives the ball, makes Burdisso look foolish, and finishes past Julio Cesar.

Alessandro Del Piero vs. Siena – Yet another trademark free-kick. Classic Del Piero goal.

Genoa-Torino Fight
Who doesn’t like to watch fights? Genoa and Torino players were involved in a big tussle after the game.

Francesco, I dont mean to be a stickler, but Julio Cesar had the day off on Sunday. Cossu scored on Toldo.

It was a great goal and Nico did, sadly, look foolish.

“He receives the ball, makes Burdisso look foolish,”

Not that hard to do actually.

That may be the case, Nnahoj, but he won my respect at the beginning of the season during our home game against Catania. He was knocked unconscious going for a header but, because we didn’t have any other defenders on the bench, he shook it off and got back in the game. Inter won 2-1.

So, he may not be the best, but he is ours.

Ok. Doubt anyone’s gonna be fighting you for him anytime soon. Burdisso = Boumsong.

Hahaha true, I remember after we had already announced Boumsong was leaving, he scored against Inter in the Coppa at the San Siro, after disastrously letting Inter score. Felt bad for the guy cause he wanted to do his best, but good lord was he a walking time-bomb
