Serie A Midweek Round-up: Giornata 21

By: Francesco | January 29th, 2009

Funny sign caught in the stands this week. It says “To the Sheik, if you want Kaka now you’ll have to eat prunes.” I thought that was pretty clever and funny. The midweek round was supposed to be Milan and Juventus’ chance to catch Inter as they had a difficult away tie in Catania. Unfortunately both sides failed to do that, with Diego Milito scoring a late equalizer at the San Siro to grab a precious point and Udinese finally breaking their long slump with a win over Juventus. Inter got the job done vs. Catania in 10 men, with a hard-fought 2-0 win. Full results after the jump.

FRANCESCO’S SERIE A GOALS OF THE WEEK

Antonio Cassano vs. Lazio – Antonio Cassano shows the talent he possesses when he scores a goal like this. He starts on the left, skips past two defenders, and places the ball in the far upper corner.

David Beckham vs. Genoa – Beckham scores his second goal in Serie A on a trademark free-kick. Surprises Rubinho and curls it into the net.

Giuseppe Vives vs. Chievo – The Lecce defender scores a powerful half-volley from a corner. What a rocket.

Antonio Di Natale vs. Juventus – The Nazionale striker scores a wonderful goal, with a great run down the flank then a cut inside and great finish past Buffon.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic vs. Inter – Great ball by Stankovic and great timing from Zlatan who beats the offside trap and flicks the ball over the keeper’s head and finishes.
