Serie A Weekend Round-up: Giornata 14

By: Francesco | December 1st, 2008

Palermo and Italy goalkeeper Marco Amelia said saving Ronaldinho’s penalty kick was “like playing Playstation“. Now I bet tons of clubs will be getting calls from FIFA ‘09 addicts saying they should get a trial because they are good at saving penalties on Playstation. Roundup after the jump.

FRANCESCO’S SERIE A GOALS OF THE WEEK

This was like the week of well worked goals through backheels:

Mauro Camoranesi vs. Reggina- The Argentine scores, dislocated shoulder and all, vs Reggina after Del Piero puts Nedved through with a beautiful backheel.

Sulley Muntari vs. Napoli- Julio Cruz sets up Maicon with a sweet backheel, but even though Maicon misfires a shot it becomes a pass for Muntari who with a backheel of his own puts it past Gennaro Iezzo.

Ezequiel Lavezzi vs. Inter- Lavezzi works the ball well on the right, feeds Zalayeta who puts Lavezzi clear with a perfect backheel, and the Argentine lightly chips it past Julio Cesar.

Fabrizio Miccoli vs. Milan- the small fantasista receives a long ball from Fabio Liverani, works it on the outside of the box, and unleashes a laser of a shot that beams past Abbiati into the lower corner. Excellent shot by Miccoli.

you know, the funny thing is that while Ronaldinho was taking the run up to the penalty kick, I was thinking exactly the same thing: “Wow, this looks exactly like FIFA ‘08/’09 with his approach.”

Who said that playing video games doesn’t pay off?! haha

great team goal?!?! maicon was shooting, he wasn’t being a good teammate, he wasn’t giving muntari the perfect pass! it was a really good goal because of the way muntari put it in, it would have my vote for best goal of the week had it not been for lavezzi’s goal. inter’s whole backline got duped.

I am just curious, did anyone say that it was a pass?

As against Juve, Muntari was doing what Muntari was brought in to do. He ran all day on the defensive and offensive sides of the field. He followed a teammate’s shot, hoping for a rebound.

He got better than a rebound…

In fact, what he was doing was basic football. The fact that he was able to lay it in with a little style is just the icing on the cake.

Sensational goal from Juventus there……and Mauro Camoranesi, a real man. In a time when players flop at the slightest contact, Camo plays 45minutes with a dislocated shoulder and even bags a goal. Beast.

Miccoli would be perfect for the Azzurri . He is exactly the big game player we need . I hope Lippi was watching

While i think all are great goals, only Miccoli’s strike surpassed Totti’s goal against Fiorentina. Admittedly I’m a Roma fan, but this is a great team goal and to send a blast past Frey takes something special. Plus it has all the criteria for a great goal; a backheel, nice team work, decisive goal, and scored by a top player. Also if anyone watched that match you’d know it was going to take something top drawer to get it past Frey. Anyway’s here it is (for Roma haters don’t let Zampa going crazy deter you to much from the beauty goal.)

Miccoli is exact what is need on the national team a guy who can be creative make his own goals and also set up goals for others. Plus he can score from a penalty unlike some other small fantasista…Di Natale.

    Best goal: Lavezzi.
Muntari seems to only score by accident.
