Serie A Weekend Round-up: Giornata 20

By: Francesco | January 26th, 2009

Inter defeated Sampdoria 1-0 to give themselves breathing room from Juventus. It was supposed to be the game where we would see the geniuses of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Antonio Cassano do battle, but unfortunately both players were unavailable for selection. The game wasn’t pretty, but Jose Mourinho’s squad got the job done once again, grinding out a 1-0 victory from a goal from Adriano, who seems to be reborn. (However he just got a 3 game suspension for punching Samp defender Daniele Gastaldello in the stomach during a corner kick). Sampdoria suffer another defeat in their disappointing season, and they are still hanging around in the relegation zone. Nothing seems to be going their way at the moment, and they really need to turn the ship around. Full results after the jump.

“grinding out a 1-0 victory from a goal from Adriano, who seems to be reborn?”

Are you serious? Scores 2 goals in the week and he’s reborn? After all the idiotic behaviour, getting frozen out of the squad and just being a fat bastard…all of a sudden he’s reborn?

Well he’s not exactly the Emperor he once was but considering his situation the past few months he is definitely reborn as a real footballer. He looks like he is actually taking it seriously right now (but we don’t know how long that will last, and that punch certainly didn’t help him).

Adriano has set the bar very low for himself. He scored a goal, he didn’t come to training drunk, he played a fullish 90 (he was a little green at the end). But then he had to go and punch someone.

Three steps forward, one step back.

Avanti Galletti! Conte is doing great work.

I think it bears note that that was Marchisio’s first senior goal, Serie B or Serie A.

I think it’s worth noting that Del Piero’s pass what utterly SUBLIME. Who cares about the goal, I watched that clip several times just to see that pass. Glorious.
