Serie A Weekend Round-up: Giornata 26
By: Francesco | March 2nd, 2009
When Roma and Inter do battle it always seems to turn out to be an entertaining game. And this one was no different, as both sides played to a 3-3 draw. Roma’s first half performance was excellent, but there performance in the second half calmed down and it allowed Inter to get back into the game. De Rossi scored a towering header from a Marco Motta cross to put Roma ahead, and then Jon Arne Riise scored his first goal for Roma (he had been trying so hard all season) when he deftly headed it past Maicon and finished past Julio Cesar from a tight angle. In the second half Inter got one back when Adriano made a nice pass to an open Balotelli who placed his shot into the net to bring it to 2-1. Roma however than made it 3-1 when a ball was played to Julio Baptista who made a great dummy past Cambiasso and it allowed Matteo Brighi to slot home. Inter then pulled one back when they got a controversial penalty when Balotelli fell in front of De Rossi (replays show he did dive) and Rizzoli pointed to the spot. Balotelli put it past Doni to score his second of the game. Hernan Crespo was thrown on and after a minute of being on the field connected with a Luis Figo cross perfectly and scored his first goal since last year. The match ended 3-3 and Roma missed the chance to be 4th place while Inter stayed 7 points over Juventus. Full results after the jump.

FRANCESCO’S SERIE A GOALS OF THE WEEK
Giuseppe Mascara vs. Palermo – Amazing goal from Mascara. Nearly 50 yards out, the ball drops to him, he sees Amelia a little off his line, and tries an audacious volley that winds up in the back of the net. One of the goals of the season.
Mauro Zarate vs. Bologna (2 goals) – Mauro Zarate scores 2 nice goals vs. Bologna. First, he scores an unstoppable free-kick where Antonioli can only watch as it sails in. Second, he plays a perfect 1-2 with Rocchi and chips an onrushing Antonioli.
Giampaolo Pazzini vs. Milan – Pazzini just can’t stop scoring. Of course the assist comes from Cassano, who splits the defense and Pazzini jinks past Bonera and fires home.
Alessio Sestu vs. Fiorentina – The Reggina midfielder scores his first goal in Serie A with a great finish past Sebastian Frey from outside the area.
Daniele De Rossi vs. Inter – De Rossi puts Roma ahead with an imperious header. Marco Motta cuts past Santon and puts in a perfect cross, and De Rossi rises over Zanetti to head it in.
Hernan Crespo vs. Roma – Another perfect header and Crespo scores his first goal since last year. Figo with an inch perfect cross, and Crespo with a beautiful turn of his head puts it past Doni in the upper corner.

As someone unfamiliar with Roma’s history, can I ask; WTF is with the naked ladies on their kits?

The “naked ladies” have nothing to do with Roma. That is the symbol for Italian sportswear company Robe di Kappa, who manufacture Roma’s kits. Its actually a woman and a man sitting back to back.
