Serie A Weekend Round-up: Giornata 3
By: Francesco | September 22nd, 2008
The third giornata of Serie A had less drama and surprises then the last two weeks, but it was interesting and exciting nonetheless. All the big teams won (including Milan for the first time): Inter swept aside Torino, Juventus won a tricky away game vs. Cagliari, Roma ended their “crisis” by soundly defeating Reggina 3-0, Milan finally won with a 4-1 victory over Lazio, and Fiorentina keep chugging along (with Gila scoring goals) with a win vs. Bologna. On the other side of things, Cagliari still find themselves without any points, while Sampdoria are still without a win. Catania are impressing and defeated Atalanta at home, while Lecce and Siena shared points in Puglia. Udinese and Napoli, a game which was hyped up to be a goal-fest, turned out to be a 0-0 draw. There were lots of great goals scored from far outside the box this weekend, I’ve never seen so many in a single giornata. Make sure to watch Maicon’s vs. Torino, Zambrotta’s vs. Lazio, Bovo’s vs. Genoa, and Aquilani vs. Reggina. Detailed round-up after the jump.
