Serie A Weekend Round-up: Giornata 35
By: Francesco | May 11th, 2009
Due to Livorno’s loss on Friday, Bari were mathematically promoted to Serie A and will return to paradise after 8 long years of Serie B. The last time Bari were in Serie A they had players like Antonio Cassano and Simone Perrotta on the books. This season they were expected to at least contend for a play-off spot but nobody expected them to dominate Serie B. Lots of credit goes to manager Antonio Conte (remember him?) who really did a great job managing a side filled with a perfect mix of young players and veterans. Next year Serie A will have back a passionate fan base (and one of the biggest stadiums in Italy) with an enthusiastic team ready to give it’s all to never return to Serie B again. Welcome back Bari!

Now we need a Bari blogger! I hope it´s not going to end up like our bastard-cousins blog.

Hahaha. Tomasso the Cassano-lover. The Treviso-story is pretty sad as well…

He’s not even from Lecce for God’s sakes.
The Treviso story is sad. Hellas, Treviso, Perugia, Foggia…some quality teams that have just disappeared.

I think the thing with Treviso was that year in Serie A hurt them more then helped them. Their promotion was so unexpected and they really were not prepared for the top flight and once they were relegated their best players were gone and they went on their decline in Serie B.
