Serie A Weekend Round-up: Giornata 5
By: Francesco | September 29th, 2008
When looking at the schedule of the 5th Giornata, all eyes had to be on Milan-Inter. The Derby was important not only for fans of those teams but for fans of other teams, as everyone had to hope Inter were stopped. And they were stopped, as the Rossoneri prevailed with a thunderous header from Ronaldinho, who scored his first goal in a Milan jersey. Juventus tied Sampdoria on Saturday in a drab 0-0 (yet another draw for Samp), while Roma took care of Atalanta at the Stadio Olimpico, winning 2-0. Fiorentina defeated Genoa with a gem from Gilardino, who seems to be turning back into the amazing goal machine we saw at Parma. Napoli becomes the only undefeated side in Serie A with a win over Bologna, Argentine striker German Denis grabbed a late goal. Lazio continued their winning ways (another great game from Zarate) with a win over Torino. Udinese handled Siena at the Friuli with a 2-1 win, while Ballardini’s Palermo continues to work after a 1-0 win vs. Reggina. Catania continues it’s impressive run with a 1-0 win over Chievo, while Cagliari still remains with 0 points after a 2-0 loss to Lecce at the Stadio Via del Mare. Results after the jump.
