Serie A’s Ugliest Footballers

By: Francesco | December 3rd, 2008

So Lorenzo and Alessio had a good idea for a post, we are going to crown Serie A’s Ugliest Footballer. There are quite a few of them, and this is the post where we’ll nominate footballers. I’ll list some here, and if you have a nomination state it in the comments section and I’ll add him to the running. Then we’ll have a final competition and crown Serie A’s Ugliest Footballer. Some nominees after the jump. (Only present Serie A players allowed, no past players, and if you want to search Serie B, what the hell go right ahead.)

Gennaro Gattuso
(Milan)

Giuseppe Mascara (Catania)

Ronaldinho
(Milan)

Antonio Cassano
(Sampdoria)

Emerson (Milan)

Ivan Juric (Genoa)

Cristiano Doni (Atalanta)

Takayuki Morimoto
(Catania)

Marco Storari (Fiorentina)

Stevan Jovetic (Fiorentina)

Rubinho (Genoa)

Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Inter)

Vincenzo Iaquinta (Juventus)

Fabio Caserta (Lecce)

Jose Castillo (Lecce)

Christian Maggio
(Napoli)

Marek Hamsik (Napoli)

Edinson Cavani
(Palermo)

Stefano Okaka Chuka (Roma)

Rodrigo Taddei
(Roma)

OK so keep on submitting new players in the comments section if you wish to nominate some player not listed. Then we’ll vote on the Top 10 Ugliest players and from there we will go to the Final Competition where the Ugliest Serie A Footballer 2008/2009 will be crowned!

Angharad – you brought up an excellent point. How could we forget about Riccardo Montolivo? That kid is flat out uggums.

He is the real life version of Disney’s Ichabod Crane character:

Really?! Am I the only one who finds Gattuso super attractive? He was my first Azzurri crush, I think he’s beautiful.

*sighs* Oh Lorenzo, we are never going to get along.

Bonnie — I adore Rino, don’t get me wrong, but more for his attitude than his looks. I like a beard on a man but I’d never call him beautiful.

evaldo, Maggio isn’t as ugly as some of the other contenders, but he has an enormous chin. I’m pretty sure it has it’s own zip code.

Lorenzo, I had oral surgery today and I knew clicking on that Ichabod Crane link was bad. Spit blood everywhere in laughter. Quality humor.

lol – my apologies ricci. just statin’ the facts dude.

ben – miccoli’s not ugly…his style is just…”unique”. those eyebrows have been known to kill brave men. as for Moris, well, he could play a Geico Caveman quite nicely – or as “Braveheart” as he was recently dubbed by the Palermo media.

I don’t consider Simone Loria a football player, so I didn’t include him in my thought process.

Rodrigo Taddei = Willem Defoe by far.

I wonder what the polls would look like if we were voting for most unhygenic-looking footballers. you know, the ones who look like they need to get re-introduced to the shower, bath salts, and maybe deodorants…

Hey girls, maybe I’m wrong but this isn’t a “hottest Footballer” contest right? When it comes to Zlatlan, the girls count the height, the abs, the bad boy personality, etc., etc.

The title of this contest is “….ugliest footballers” which should pertain to these players facial features, or am I wrong?

If you take away their bodily features, and re-critique these boys on their facial features, and their ugliness, where would you rate Zlatlan?

Asem – Huh. I find Materazzi very very attractive. He’s just a different brand of good-looking, like Gattuso.

Immediately put Muntari up there please!

And how could you think Jovetic is ugly? I ain’t into dudes, but he’s not ugly. He kinda looks like he’s out of Menudo.

Morimoto looks like he’s down syndrome!

By the way, who is that in the main pic? Looks familiar but I can’t put a name to the…ummm…I wanna say…face?

    Amen, brief.

Pauly, I think you will find that for many women, attractiveness is a full-package sort of deal. I know that for me, a person can be very physically pretty (or handsome) but, if they are a dick, they are ugly. Period.

What is ugly is entirely subjective, both as it applies to people and how it is applied.

For me, “Ugly footballer” is not only what they physically look like, but what I perceive their personality to be (how they play, what they say, etc).

Your criteria may be entirely different.

I, personally, am incapable of separating out elements of the looks package.
Materazzi is ugly, and has facial intrigue of a lost donkey.
Gatusso’s face is not bad, but just feel like he has something of the unhygenic look about him. No, I have not been close enough to him to really be an authority– but just instinct. (Maybe coz beards wierd me out)

I actually don’t understand how some of these players got onto your list. Gattuso is the hottest thing since ice-cream, he’s rugged look makes him incredibly sexy and attractive, and I’d hardly call Ibra or Christian Maggio ugly. I don’t think anyone is really ugly, Ronaldinho may be ugly (so to speak), but he has an incredible smile and an infectuous personality that makes him attractive. But what do I know, I’m just a woman!!!

Does that make Viola, the ugly club to play(ed) for? haha
