Someone Held Up Christian Vieri. Who Would Do Such a Thing?
By: Martha | February 22nd, 2007
According to the Italian press, our beloved Bobo Vieri was held up in Milan earlier this week. In broad daylight! Can you imagine? The nerve of these people! The man is finally getting healthy and ready to play again (fingers crossed), and they go and screw up his life further. Plus, it’s Christian Vieri! How could you be standing near him and not be too awed to rob him?
From what little sense I can make of Google’s translation of the story, three men on scooters approached Vieri in the street at about 5pm while he was innocently trying to park his car. As far as I can tell they didn’t take any cash, just Bobo’s ever-so-slightly valuable Audemars Piguet watch. (Google kept telling me it was clock but, after spending a lot time imagining a grandfather clock sticking out the back of his car, I figure out what they meant.) How valuable, you ask? Well, is it possible that a watch could be worth €16,000? Because that’s the figure I’ve read in two different sources. So, now my mind is blown for two reasons, first because someone had the balls to rob the one and only Bobo Vieri, and second because he actually spent €16,000 on a WATCH. Cripes.
The good news is that, though watchless, Bobo is just fine. Hell, he’s probably got four Audemars Piguet backups at home.

I know there is humor to be had with the words “holding up Christian Vieri.” But I think it may be a little too steamy to follow that thought to its logical conclusion. So I’m done now.

You’re so much more mature than I am, Laurie — ever since that video last week, I’ve been having a hard time following any OTHER thoughts to their logical conclusions. Yes, I’m a sad, sad person.
