Speaking of Transfers: Iaquinta to Juve is Official

Several days after the striker passed his medical, the long-rumored (And by “long,” I mean “for all of eight days.”) transfer of Vincenzo Iaquinta from Udinese to Juventus was made official this morning. (As far as I can tell this is official-official, not Suazo-to-Inter official, so you can go ahead and pencil Iaquinta into the Juve line-up.)

Just 24 hours after referencing various outstanding details as the reason for the delay in the signing, Juventus announced that the deal had gone through, albeit without the inclusion of the young players (most likely Michele Paolucci and Viktor Boudianski, both of whom were on loan with Ascoli last season) who were expected to join Udine in exchange. In the place of the players, Juve increased the cash value of the deal, reportedly paying just over €11 million for Iaquinta, and have signed the Italian international to a five-year deal.

While this deal will surely help Juve cement their place in Serie A, where does it leave Udine? Though they ended up in the middle of the table, the club was, in reality, just a few points clear of the relegation scrambled, and that was with Iazquinta and his 14 goals. They need to bring in some serious firepower this summer, or they could be doomed next season.
