SuperPippo Could Return Very Soon
By: Julian | March 28th, 2011When AC Milan played Palermo on November 10th earlier this season, despite winning by three goals to one, most Milanisti left the game in tears. Pippo Inzaghi, the evergreen Italian striker, suffered cruciate ligament and meniscus damage in his left knee after coming on as a substitute. At the time it seemed like his season, if not his career, was in major jeopardy, but today, Pippo has announced that his return could be much sooner than expected.
Twenty days, in fact.
“I’ll be back in 20 days to help Milan win,” he told Sport Mediaset on Monday evening.
“I’m feeling reasonably good. My knee is no longer causing me problems. I think I’ll be available in about three weeks, but only if I’m 100 per cent fit. I suffered a serious injury and you can’t mess around with these things. In the past after injuries I returned too soon. My future? If I heal properly then I’d like to play on for one more season here and then end my career with Milan.”
That would put him, somewhat ironically, in the timeframe to face Palermo in the Coppa Italia on the 20th. If not then, it seems likely that he’ll be able to face Brescia in the league on the 23rd. As he correctly states however, the magnitude of the injury indicates that it may be a long time before he sees any serious action. He certainly won’t want to be rushed back onto the field, as he claims has happened in the past.
But Milanisti and Serie A fans can smile, knowing that soon, SuperPippo will be back scoring the scrappiest of goals and celebrating like he just won the World Cup Final.
