The Contract Recession and Four Other Talking Points
By: Julian | March 8th, 2011After a nightmare seven months at Roma, Adriano’s contract has finally been rescinded. Kaka, the Champions’ League, and other topics are also taken up in today’s Serie A news roundup.
- Roma today announced that they have terminated, by mutual consent, the big Brazilian’s contract. His contract was set to run until 2013, but due to numerous aggravating circumstances, including the player’s weight and his late return to the club after injury treatment, Roma have decided that the best course of action was early termination. His time at the club probably won’t be remembered too fondly, bar the integral role he played in the capital side’s victory over leaders Milan late last year.
- Adriano Gallini has stated that a Kaka return to Milan would be impossible. He claims however that he would like him back at the club. Kaka has had a mixed time at Real Madrid since his 2009 transfer, with injuries and form both limiting his playing time.
- Of course, Roma play in the Champions’ league today, in their return leg away to Shakhtar. The capital side lost the first leg at home, 3-2. Marco Cassetti and French starlet Jeremy Menez are both suspended. The projected lineup is:
Doni
Burdisso – Mexes – Juan – Riise
Pizarro – De Rossi
Taddei-Perrotta-Vucinic
Borriello
- Milan play tomorrow in Europe’s premiere competition. Kevin Prince Boateng has seemingly made a remarkable recovery from injury, after spraining his ankle in Milan’s victory over Juventus this weekend. Galliani, in a very vocal day for him, claims that the dynamic midfielder should be fit to play against Tottenham.
- Gigi Buffon gave two announcements today, clearly trying to match the Milan vice president’s talkative nature. One, he proclaimed his desire to stay at Juventus. Secondly, he plans to marry his longtime girlfriend Alena Seredova. There has been speculation mounting that Juventus would have to sell Buffon should they fail to make the Champions’ League for next season.
And finally, a Calciopoli update. Massimo Moratti, Inter’s president, is set to take the stand on the 31st of March. More developments to surely follow his testimony.
