Things to Ponder as You Wonder Which Bank Julio Cruz is About to Hit

By: Martha | November 3rd, 2006

J Cruz, bandit•Why is Andriano back in Milan already? I thought he was going to spend a long a time sunbathing and eating recharging at home.

•Is the world ending? I swear to God a woman was doing color on the RAI International broadcast of the Juventus-Brescia game this week. Not only that but, as far as my non-Italian-speaking understanding went, it didn’t sound like the play-by-play guy was laughing at her or even calling her “baby.” In a country where even the most knowledgeable women in the footballing world are relegated to wearing low-cut blouses on La Grande Giostra Dei Gol, to call this stunning would be a massive understatement — I nearly swallowed my tongue when I heard her.

•The latest rumor on the Future of Figo: He’s wanted in Moscow. Last I heard, he was joining the New York Red Bulls. (As a New Yorker and Figo worshipper, you can probably guess which way I’m leaning.)

•It’s not often that the big game of the weekend is between the team that lies third in the table, and the one that second-last. Oh, the madness of point deductions.

•According to my ever-reliable (cough) “reading” of La Gazzetta dello Sport (AKA the newspaper that’s the same color as Palermo’s jerseys), Kaka has played every single minute for Milan this season. At least I think that’s what this chart means. Since no one else can actually score, I’m guessing a rest will not come soon — Milan fans, start praying for his health.

As annoying as it is to miss goals during the split-screening on La grande giostra dei gol, I gotta say the fact that they use the William Tell Overture to introduce each goal cures a lot of ills for me — that cracks me up every time.
