this was probably the best year of my life. Italy with the WC and AC Milan with the UCL. I watched the World Cup final at Duke University in their student theater because I was there for soccer camp.

Still brings back goosebumps just to think about it. I watched it from a hospital room because my brother was stuck in there with an infection. The PKs I remember the most mostly because I was so damn nervous about us missing one.

But the joy, the goddamn glorious joy and pure adrenaline released when we won… I was there. I felt like I was out there on the pitch with those guys.

And lame as that sounds, I think that’s a big part of the reason why we watch soccer.

After that week, i could die a happy man, seeing them win in my hometown(Cassino) and then driving to Rome in the same hour for the parade!!!

it doesn’t get better than that

HolyMann, I’m not a Juve tifoso, and I was still going absolutely ape$hit when DelPiero scored that second one.

The match against Germany is by far the most memorable Azzurri match for me. Canavarro was a monster, and the entire team worked their arses off… and then after what seemed like an eternity, at the last possible moment, Grosso struck with that beautiful, epic shot. Then follow that with the team effort from Canavarro to Totti to Gilardino to Del Piero… that $hit was simply poetic.

I challenge any hater of the Azzurri to watch the match against Germany and find any evidence of diving or foul play… or anything *but* hard work, determination, and skill. They will come up dry.

The Azzurri may have won the Cup when they beat France, but their finest hour(more like two) was against Germany. Amazing.

I was at the final in berlin. I’d love to post some videos that I took inside the stadium. What a night to remember. I was also at the germany-italy game and I gotta tell ya, grosso’s goal will live in my mind for the rest of my life. Simply amazing!

I wanted Italy to play against France in the Final so badly to compensate the game Italy lost against them in euro 2000 finals. When france scored first by their lucky penalty kick, i knew the guys would retaliate fast which they did then italy tied the match, then went ahead to win the game in penalties, oh man it was so sweet it was belesimoooooooo, i shouted and said we fucked the french.
