Toro Desperately Chasing Bianchi

Bianchi Bianchi Bianchi Not only can Torino not score any goals, but they’re having injury problems with the few people they have who can offer some hope. Alessandro Rosina has been in poor (for him) form most of the season and hasn’t played in weeks, and Nicola Ventola quietly had surgery last week, and probably won’t be back until next month, and it’s not as if David Di Michele and Alvaro Recoba, despite moments of magic, have ever been reliable sources of scoring. The team are so utterly desperate for goals that Toro supporters could be forgiven for putting everything in the “Oh my god please let Rolando Bianchi arrive” basket.

And, if the Italian media are to be believed, a decision on Bianchi could be coming very soon, but it’s by no means a foregone conclusion that Torino will be be his destination, as Lazio are offering serious competition, and it’s also still possible that the striker could stay at Manchester City.

From what I can tell, Lazio are trying to buy Bianchi outright, whereas any agreement with Torino would be a fairly cheap loan deal. There’s been mention of Goran Pandev being part of Lazio’s payment, which could certainly help the sale look good for Sven Goran Eriksson and friends, but from Bianchi’s point of view, a move to Torino is probably a lot more appealing, since he’d doubtless go right into the team and be welcomed as a savior if he scores a goal or four. A loan would reportedly only cost Torino €250,000, which is a small price to pay for staying up, but the two teams as of yet have not been able to agree on a possible sale price, should Toro avoid the drop and want to keep Bianchi when the deal ends.

Even if something is sorted out today, though, I suppose it’s probably too much to ask that Bianchi’d be suited up for the Granata by tomorrow.
