So according to that report, Milan is trying to reconstruct the World Cup Champion Azzurri with a little samba flair? Okay, that might be interesting, but other than switching Maldini out for a younger but not young Zambrotta, that's still an old defense.

If I hadn't actually forced myself to watch the first half (and bits and pieces of the second) of the Roma game, I probably wouldn't have a lot of sympathy for Lyon. But even from thousands of miles away I was seeing a lot more ugliness than your standard yo mama stuff. A mean, nasty, ugly game that the ref had little control over despite (or perhaps partly because of?) his thousand whistles and eleven yellow cards. They never got to actually play the game because it was being stopped every thirty seconds.

Lyon played poorly and didn't deserve to win, but still...

I'm really curious to see what the second leg brings. I'm guessing that Setanta will show this one. (I hope. 'Cause I'm sure as heck not paying UEFA to watch them play again!!)
