Ujfalusi Staying in Florence; Gets Hilarious “Compliment”
By: Martha | December 30th, 2007
Liverpool have been eying Fiorentina defender Tomas Ujfalusi for at least a month now, and given how the Czech and his agent have been talking, it’s been assumed he would leave Serie A next month, probably for England. Now, though, that’s all been proved wrong: Ujfalusi rejected a move to The Reds, scuttling the £500,000 deal on which the two clubs had reportedly agreed.
Why he’d turn down the move I have no idea (nor do I really get why he wants to leave Fiorentina, where he’s playing regularly and is on a team with a lot of promise), unless he’s being secretly promised a massive salary if he signs a summer deal with one of his alleged suitors. The Viola, probably, would rather have him leave now than over the summer, because his contract will have expired by then and they’ll get nothing for him if he decides to reject the three-year contract they’ve got on the table. Ujfalusi, however, is not bothered about what the club want. As Fiorentina sporting director Pantaleo Corvino put it, “Ujfalusi has clearly and politely announced to us that the interests of the club will not be taken into consideration in the pondering of his future, that he will make a decision purely by himself.” Isn’t that decent of him, politely telling the club to fuck right off? He’s a good guy, that Tomas.
According to the defender’s agent, his (non-Fiorentina, non-Liverpool) suitors are various and sundry, and come from all over the world; the number includes Inter, Juventus, Atletico Madrid, Zenit St Petersburg, Tottenham and Sevilla.

Hi Martha, since Zlatan is always on-topic here, here’s him being a loving father with his family in Miami. http://www.kjendis.no/2007/12/28/522359.html

Thank you, Rickard! (It will not surprise you that I’m finding it increasingly difficult to resist the urge to get on a plane for Miami.)

Voyeuristic pictures of Zlatan aside, that Ujfalusi quote by Corvino has me ROFL!! Thanks Martha, you made my day.

I just got back in town so I’ll blog about this tomorrow. But I’ve always thought that he’s most likely to go to Sevilla, and probably after they sell Danny Alves. I’m guessing both of these are most likely in the summer.
That is a crap attitude and I’m surprised that a veteran player would allow this to be expressed publicly.

Also, some Swedish newspaper is saying Zlatan’s girlfriend is 37. That’s almost two decades years older than Bobo’s, uh, “romantic demographic.”

Yes, Zlatan’s significant other (Aren’t they married?) is older and an actual high-powered career woman. Slightly different than Bobo’s 12-year-old, pretty TV presenter. Not that I pay attention to such things.
