Video of the Week: Did somebody say SuperCoppa?
By: Francesco | August 22nd, 2008Finally, after weeks of anticipation, the curtain to the 2008/2009 Serie A season will be raised. The SuperCoppa always brings joy to fans starved of calcio for months, as it means the season will finally begin. Yet again, the match is Inter-Roma, the umpteenth battle between the Giallorossi and the Nerazzurri in recent years. All eyes will be on Mourinho’s Inter, to see how how much they’ve changed from Roberto Mancini’s squad and how they will perform. On the other side of things, we will see if Roma can continue to confirm themselves as the side that plays the best football in Italy, and if they have what it takes to win the Scudetto this season. A certain player named Francesco Totti will start from the bench. For more SuperCoppa news, head to the Inter Offside and the Roma Offside. To refresh everyone’s memories, here’s what happened at last year’s SuperCoppa:
Daniele De Rossi’s late penalty kick gave Roma the 1-0 win.

Honestly, it is completely meaningless for the teams involved, too.
It is basically a glorified friendly.

I’m unexpectedly going to find myself in Vicenza for a few weeks and I’m wondering whats the best way to secure tickets to the AC Milan v Bologna game… if that’s even possible at this point.
I see that AC lists a series of authorized resellers, but no weblinks and I don’t speak a lick of Italian.
I found some tickets via worldticketshop.com but for 115 and 135 Euros. That seems kind of pricey. I used to catch Bundesliga games for under 50 Euros. Before anybody starts trash-talking the German A league, I know, I know, this is AC Milan and not 1. FC Kaiserslautern.
Any help on how to get tickets for a Serie A match would be greatly appreciated!

Meaningless? No. Bragging rights are involved. Being able to say “Team A won the first trophy of the season” is involved. And the (albeit little) psychological boost that goes with it.
Make no mistake: this is not a Serie A match, but both teams will be playing for the win.

Bragging smagging. Lets see, last year Roma won the super cup. Inter won the Scudetto. What did the supper cup prove/predict? Nothing.
Of course, I would prefer my team win, but if they dont, big feakin’ deal. Frankly, I hope Mourinho has more important things on his mind. And in terms of a psychological boost, I think and opening day win is more important. In fact, for me, it is far more important that Inter beat Samp next week than Roma this week.Posted from

francesco. Salernitana won today. They beat lecce! 0-1. Can’t wait one more win then it is Salerno vs Napoli! Aka world war 3. Huge derby!

Anyone know if GolTV or FSC will be broadcasting the match? I believe GolTV did so last year, but right now they are negotiating with Dish Network over a contract issue so I no longer have them. It sucks.

yes Joe I saw! They also have an excellent chance to face Napoli since they are meeting Sassuolo or Reggiana in the next round, two favorable teams.
