Video of the Week: Italy vs. Bulgaria
By: Francesco | October 9th, 2008This Saturday our beloved Nazionale takes on Bulgaria in World Cup 2010 qualifying. Italy has a positive record vs. Bulgaria, playing 14 matches in total, winning 7, drawing 5, and losing 2 and have scored 25 goals vs. Bulgarian defenses. Our last loss vs. Bulgaria goes back to the Vicini era, losing 2-1 in Sofia. In recent years, we have played Bulgaria twice, both in major competitions. In 1994, Arrigo Sacchi’s Italy defeated Bulgaria in the World Cup semi-final 2-1, with both goals coming from Roberto Baggio. Ten years later in 2004, Giovanni Trapattoni’s Italy defeated Bulgaria by the same margin (2-1) in the group stages of Euro 2004 but were eliminated on goal difference. Let’s hope this Saturday in Sofia Lippi’s men continue the winning trend. Videos of the last two victories after the jump.

Man, Robby Baggio, what a legend.
The second video brings back some serious memories.
I love Juve ADP but despise Azzurri ADP. I can’t stand watching highlights of him missing golden opportunities. Cassano, still boss.Forza azzurri, we’ve got this.

Man, it just isn’t an Italy game without Materazzi giving away a penalty. Good times.

And Cassanate or no, I’ve always loved Cassano because he actually gives a shit about the game.

Watching the highlights to Euro 2004 still infuriate me as much as watching how we got hosed in 2002 WC. Why isn’t Cassano on this squad? What is wrong with Lippi? Thank god that Materazzi is injured, I hope inter’s lone representative never makes it back to the fold of gli azzurri.

Divin Codino indeed.

I’m fully convinced that Del Piero supporters who think he should still be on the Azzurri have NEVER seen him play for the Azzurri.

Cassano looked better then than now, but still deserves a place on the team – especially before Toni and Gilardino
get rid of those guys until they can score consistently
