Want to buy the whole Fiorentina roster? All you need is 185 million euro
By: Francesco | July 1st, 2009
Fiorentina’s Pantaleo Corvino is known to be one of the best sporting directors in all of Italian calcio. Over the years Corvino has discovered a wealth of talent, including Fabrizio Miccoli, Valeri Bojinov, Mirko Vucinic, Christian Ledesma, and Stevan Jovetic just to name a few. He is also responsible for bringing players like Sebastien Frey, Luca Toni, Adrian Mutu, and Alberto Gilardino to Florence. You can say that Fiorentina’s success throughout the last couple of years is in large part to Corvino’s work. His latest innovation is something we have never seen in calcio: pricing each player on the roster and inserting that as a rescission clause in their contract. No player is unsellable. Prices after the jump.
First, Corvino has valued the entire Viola roster at 185 million euro. So if you have 185 million euro lying around and you want to start up a football team, you can buy all of Fiorentina’s players. Now we go on to the individual player prices, and each player has a price. If a club is interested in a player, they will have to make an offer of equal or greater value of the fixed rescission price. Here are the prices:
Alberto Gilardino: 25 million
Felipe Melo: 25 million
Riccardo Montolivo: 16 million
Sebastien Frey: 15 million
Stevan Jovetic: 15 million
Juan Vargas: 15 million
Adrian Mutu: 13 million
Alessandro Gamberini: 13 million
Zvradko Kuzmanovic: 10 million
Manuel Pasqual: 7 million
Mario Santana: 7 million
Franco Semioli: 5 million
Dario Dainelli: 4 million
Per Kroldrup: 4 million
Marco Donadel: 4 million
Massimo Gobbi: 3.5 million
Gianluca Comotto: 3 million
Martin Jorgensen: 500,000
I think Frey is worth at least as much as Gilardino and Felipe Melo. 15 million for a goalkeeper of that caliber is pretty much a steal.
