Weekend in Review: Week 31
By: chris | March 30th, 2008
Mancio decided to eschew tactical concerns during Saturday’s game in favor of making shadow puppets and/or scary faces.
I’m busy packing for an early flight, so here’s your one sentence wrap up for each Serie A weekend game. (The team blogs are more than adequate for the good stuff.)
Lazio 1 - Inter 1: Crespo got it early, Rocchi got it back in the second, and Mancio is going to get it from the media all week.
Cagliari 1 - Roma 1: Roma beat Cagliari up and down the pitch, couldn’t finish, and Matteo Ferrari sucks balls, putting in an own goal two minutes into the game.
Juventus v Parma: The game was postponed due to the accidental death of a Parma fan near the stadium.
Udinese 3 -Fiorentina 1: The dynamic duo of Fab Quags and Toto combined for the second week in a row, winning a massive match which sees them leap to within just three points of the Viola for the almighty 4th CL spot.
Milan 1 - Atalanta 2: Devastating game for the Rossoneri as Andrea Pirlo missed a second half stoppage time peno and they now look destined for the UEFA Cup, despite being only four behind Fiorentina.
Empoli 0 - Sampdoria 2: Empoli is stamping their ticket for Serie B, and Sampdoria ended up Antonio Cassano’s five game suspension winning four and drawing one - go figure.
Genoa 2 - Reggina: Two of this year’s revelations went head to head in Marco Borriello and Franco Brienza; one scored, one didn’t - scoreline says it all.
Napoli 1 - Palermo 0: Marek Hamsik ruined Stefano Colantuono’s return with a dagger in the 90th to take home three points as both teams simply wait for the summer mercato to arrive.
Catania 1 - Torino 2: The Granata managed to actually score a goal and Silvio Baldini will probably be unemployed come next weekend.
Livorno 0 - Siena 0: A Tuscan derby of nothingness, as neither had their position improve that much in the table.
Standings here. Four points at the top, three points for all that Champions League cash and the bottom has 4 teams tied at 29 points in the last relegation zone spot with only -7 separating the four in goal differential. This season’s end is simply fantastic.

That’s Milan 1 - Atalanta 2, and my heart breaks having to correct you.
Forza Milan, I would say, except by this point I’m saying it while sobbing into my pillow.
