Well Would You Look at That — Nedved’s Staying
By: Martha | July 11th, 2007
It looks as if Pavel Nedved has successfully whined and threatened his way to pay raise at Juve, so he’s agreed to stay on for another year (and maybe more). Boy, that’s big of him.
I know Juan over at the Juve blog will fall to his knees weeping with joy when he hears this news, but surely there must be a group of Juve fans who feel it’s time for Nedved to hang it up. I really do realize that he’s been a great, great player, both for the club and for the Czech Republic, but the past year or two have been awfully heavy on whining and suspensions and niggly knocks. I mean, there are worse things than retiring as a hero having helped his club return to its rightful spot in Serie A. Aren’t there?
Also at Juve, Mauro Camoranesi signed a one-year extension worth nearly £2 million/year, which will keep him at the club until 2010. Like Nedved, Camo had been whining and threatening to leave if he didn’t get a raise — I suppose the evidence provided by David Trezeguet’s successful “negotiations” was too convincing for anyone to pass up. And, now that Juve have given in not once by three times, they’ve condemned themselves to a long future of petulance and manipulation for their stars. Yippee! Boy am I glad I’m not trying to run that club on some kind of a budget.

nedved really across as such a first class tool. what a bunch of whiny primadonnas on that juve roster. maybe nedved has always been this way, i don’t know. i watched a good amount of juve’s games on rai this year and he still has the skill to whip in dangerous crosses and, when he can arm wrestle del piero away from the ball, can hit a dangerous free kick. but wow has he been full of drama.

juve are full of princesses unfortunately however nedved is a great talent and a world class player with a little attitude attached but the important thing in all of this is that NEDVED IS STAYING:D:D:D:D:D:D:D and juve offficials have said that they cant wait to kill inter next season:D *evil laugh*

Nedved has always been a whining crybaby. I’ve always liked his skills, but his attitude and constant diving turned me off.

With Juve back in Serie A I’m sure Claudio Ranieri is capable to bring the club back to the old ways, pre-B when everything was kept in-house and out of press.
Here’s a terrific pic of Tinkerman grasping arms with Pavel, who happens to be wearing a lovely little LV man-purse. Oh wait, that’s not a man-purse… It’s a purse:

I’m telling you, Ranieri at Juve might tear me in half — it’s going to be awfully hard to hate them like I should with the Tinkerman there, but unless he fixes things (Rule #1: Don’t talk about Fight Club. Rule #2: No purses.) right quick it’s going to be a struggle to support the man.
Sofia, Mike — doesn’t this sort of shit from your stars — the guys who are supposed to be the icons of the club — piss you off?!

I’m more pissed off at the board. Pavel deserves a blank check for what he’s done for Juve, and he’s sure to take a management position with the team once he retires unless the Board piss him off.
btw: he should retire next season unless Juve make a CL spot, which in that case Pavel’s gonna give it one more go. Remember his tears when he got that yellow to miss Milan in the final? F.
Historically though, Juve has always taken the approach that no player is greater than the team, and no player is irreplaceable (even Zizou). It IS strange to see them kowtow to the players like this. At the very least, serie B has made them seem more human.

i agree with mike….
and yes martha it does make me very upset because it seems like they dont care about the fans and what they think of the entire situation. they make idiots out of themselves and we have to sit back and watch. serie b hurt the fans a lot more than the players however all they see is their bank account shrinking and they shit their pants. sometimes i wish these people took a step back and really looked at their life and how much they have to complain about because then maybe they wouldnt be like this.

[...] of drawing a hard line with Del Piero and his brother/agent (odd, given how quickly they caved when Pavel Nedved and David Trezeguet started bitching about their deals), there’s a slight chance that the [...]
