Why Adriano, You Cheeky Bastard!
By: Martha | July 4th, 2007
Remember a week or two ago, when Adriano solemnly pledged to keep eating salad and return to Milan to fight for his place in the Inter front line (assuming they weren’t willing to sell him to another team in the land of bread and pasta)? Well! Things seem to have changed a little bit between then and now, because the upstanding Brazilian is suddenly shamelessly flirting with Inter’s rivals.
Forget his desire to stay in Italy — Adriano is now telling the press that Real Madrid is his dream job, and that he’d love to play either there or at AC Milan. Dude, what the hell? Not that I believed him for a second before, but I at least understood that he was playing politics, and trying to make himself look like a committed and passionate lad before he was off-loaded to a non-Inter club. Now, I have NO freaking idea what the guy is doing. All I can think of is that he’s been contacted by another big club, and urged to make Inter so disgusted that they’re willing to sell him for a cut-rate. Could Silvio Berlusconi’s Adriano-lovin’, gold-laden hand be behind this, perhaps?

This guy needs to get his shit straight, the problem is as the striker pool shrinks he is more likely to land at AC because of Silvio’s Brazilian infactuation…I hope the new Real boss really really really likes him.

aww, this doesn’t seem that bad (La Gazzetta’s report has a link to the Brazilian site with actual videos of this interview). While I’d prefer him to profess his hatred for Milan, it seems more likely that he was responding to all the rumors and just being polite about Milan and Madrid (the two clubs most commonly mentioned), before bothering to clarify that there’s nothing behind any of the speculation. I think his main point was that he wanted to play well with Inter, but then I suppose that’s not as interesting as any minute trace of respect for another club…
Here, I’ll start a different Adriano controversy. There’s a picture of what he was eating during the interview, and I don’t see any salad! That liar!

Could it be that he’s just saying this to get on Inter’s nerves, and make them appreciate him more?
Or using reverse psychology, since saying that he wanted to stay didn’t work.
