WIR: The Meat In The Calcio Sandwich

UEFA Cup Spot(s)
Sampdoria 3 - Catania 1: If you missed the train/bus, and didn’t show up til the hour mark, you were totally cool, because the fireworks didn’t start until the 68th. Four goals in the final 22, and you don’t have to look at the scoreline to know who won - Catania was playing away from home.
Udinese 2 - Lazio 2: Damiano Ferronetti scored his first Serie A goal ever like a good ex-Giallorosso, Cristian Ledesma hit a missile from distance and then Toto broke blue and white hearts with a late game equalizer to share the spoils.
Atalanta 4 - Empoli 1: So the last two times Atalanta has played at home, they’ve crushed their opponents 4-1 (other being against Samp). Those two wins were bookended by away losses to Udinese and Torino in which they failed to net. Their next home game, next weekend, is against CATANIA. Call your local bookie, it’s going to be a blowout.
6. Sampdoria 42
7. Udinese 41
8. Atalanta 37
9. Palermo 36
(Palermo mini-recap see here.)
Middles
Cagliari 3 - Torino 0: Pasquale Foggia on the bench? Pfft, no problem. Bobby Freshwater manhandled the love of his life, Torino, with two goals, letting them know just how much he’d like them to purchase him in the summer (as he’s mentioned a few times). Torino’s streak of being undefeated in 8 goes by the wayside.
Reggina 4 - Siena 0: Well damn. Siena was on a nice little run there and then bam, the team that couldn’t score with a homeless hooker in the first half of the season puts four on them. I thought it when they sold him, I’ll think it again: why did Palermo let Brienza go? Two more from him.
10. Genoa 35
11. Lazio 34
12. Napoli 33
13. Torino 31
14. Siena 31
(Genoa and Napoli mini-recaps in the same link above.)
